York is located almost exactly halfway between Portland International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.
We recommend flying into Portland, as it is a bit closer and an easier airport to navigate and get a rental car or uber from. Both are around an hour from York if you drive like Drew, or 45 min if you drive like Jody.

There is an abundance of delicious, ocean-side restaurants in York and the surrounding towns. Some great spots in the area include:
If you’re game to leave York, some of our favorites include:
Street & Co.- Located in downtown Portland, this is Jody’s favorite restaurant of all time! Try the lobster diavolo and a glass of Sancerre.
Bite into Maine - the food truck at the Portland Head Light (deemed the best lobster roll in Maine by Claudette). While you’re there, take a cliffside walk along the lighthouse.
Old Vines Wine Bar - If you end up in Kennebunk, try some of their fun tapas. While you wait for a table, grab a marg at Pedros!
We could recommend hundreds of restaurants in Portland, but the professionals already have. Check out this list by Bon Appetit for excellent Portland recs.

There are many awesome spots you can pop into for a drink in York! We love walking along Long Beach Ave and Shore Rd and dropping in wherever looks good. Some places we love to go include:
SoMe Brewing Company - The sister brewery to our welcome drinks!
The Cliff House - Feelin’ fancy? Grab a cocktail and take it to one of their cliff-side firepits
Allagash Brewing / Maine Beer Co. - For those who are willing to travel for their beers! These are two of our go-tos when we visit Portland, and both have awesome Pizza.

There’s plenty to do in this area! We highly recommend taking a walk on the beach- it can’t be beat. Here are some of our other local faves:
Stonewall Kitchen Company Store (10 min drive from Viewpoint)
A true serotonin bomb. The essence of Claudette. Perfect for lovers of kitchen gadgets and pancake mix, and they have a cafe too!Portland (1 hour from Viewpoint)
Where our love for Maine began! Walk down Exchange street, grab some incense from Mexicali Blues, take a jello shot at Amigos, grab a drink at Shipyard. The options are almost endless.Kennebunkport (35 min Drive from Viewpoint)
Peruse all the cute shops downtown, grab some ice cream, and maybe take a peek at Walker’s Point.Portsmouth (25 min drive from Viewpoint)
A historic coastal vacation town with great dining and shopping options.East Grand Lake (5 hour drive from Viewpoint, Jody’s Lakehouse)
Why not! You’re already in Maine!
Labor day weekend is a very popular time in York!
We highly recommend that you make your accommodation plans as soon as possible.
